NATURAL VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER

Vegetable tanned leather represents the epitome of quality and beauty and is created to provide a lifetime of use. Discerning buyers understand the artistry and creativity that goes into creating leather of this quality. This leather is kind to the environment, doesn’t expose its creators to toxic substances, and requires a level of craftsmanship that is rarely seen in today’s world of fast-paced manufacturing by machine.

The natural structure is maintained without the use of surface treatments, which again ensures that the leather remains breathable and soft and provides optimal comfort. Over the years, the leather will develop a unique and beautiful patina, characteristic of vegetable tanned leather.

Avoid any contact with water as vegetable tanned is a dry type of leather that will absorb water. In case you do, dry your item immediately by spreading the water out evenly. To avoid any problem with humidity, you can treat your vegetable tanned calf leather with a specific waterproof spray. Popular for its natural patina, the use of care products for this type of leather is not recommended during the first years.

To clean your item, glycerin soap or water can be applied thanks to a soft cotton cloth, but make sure not to get the leather soaked, as vegetable tanned calf is not stable in water. The leather tends to discolor and become harder. If stained, applying any type of care product on a specific area might create a larger stain. Make sure to apply the chosen care product on the whole surface.

Never, under any circumstances use washing-up liquid and chemical cleaning agents on leather bags.

NAPPA LEATHER

Nappa leather is similar to smooth calfskin but from goat. It is an incredibly delicate, soft material and is never waxed. Nappa demands special attention when cleaning to prevent damage to the skin. It is the most fragile type of leather. Caution should be taken to use a delicate product. In order to avoid staining or darkening your nappa leather, the use of nappa cream is essential.

Because of the delicate, porous nature of Nappa leather and because it is never waxed, it is particularly important to protect the leather. Because the leather does not have the benefit of a protective wax finish, you need extra protection to prevent water and other substances from being absorbed into and staining the leather.

On average levels of dirt, it is enough to only brush it, use luke warm water and dish soap. Really dirty bags need a treatment with special custom cleaning products developed specifically for Nappa leather.

After cleaning your leather bag with water, it must be left to dry completely before further treatment within a frim temperature not higher than 40°C. Now that the bag is clean, use the leather balm and apply it with the cloth. Due to the use of balm or oil, the color and structure could change. So be careful and try to apply it on a small spot before you cover the whole bag with it.

As soon as your bags absorbs small portions of water, it is time for a prober cleaning. To keep your Nappa leather bag nice, you should apply a special leather care product (usually available in a well sorted store). Apply it with a cloth by gently move it in a circular motion. This way you are less likely to clog the leather.

VEGETABLE TANNED CALF LEATHER

Vegetable tanned calf is a thicker and more rigid type of leather. Vegetable tanned calf is a full grain aniline leather that was tanned with vegetable extracts. Aniline leather is the most natural looking leather as it has not been protected by a surface coating of polymer and pigments. It gives your item a unique aspect and touch.

As it is a thicker and plain type of leather, stains, scratches and patina belong to the normal ageing process of your item. Differences in tone, shading, gradation, and the possible alterations of the material are to be regarded as a sign of quality.

Avoid any contact with water as vegetable tanned is a dry type of leather that will absorb water. In case you do, dry your item immediately by spreading the water out evenly. To avoid any problem with humidity, you can treat your vegetable tanned calf leather with a specific waterproof spray.
